Mary-Jane Donovan Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) Hi, I was on 6 msg per day of Clonazapam for 19 years. When I went to a new doctor in June, she refused to continue prescribing it, and when I agreed to come off of it, she refused to tapering me. Wound up stopping cold turkey, with no medical advice, and have been in extreme withdrawal for 7-months. Cannot sleep more than 0-3 hours per night, and feel terrible. my new doctor doesn’t seem to understand the issues involved with benzo withdrawal and will not advise me. what to do? Edited December 5, 2024 by Mary-Jane Donovan Do not want my full name in my messages. Quote Was taking 6 mg Clonazepam/day until it was discontinued cold-turkey, in June,2024.

If you are in the U.S., You can go back to the home page here and search for providers in your state who have volunteered their contact information stating they are “benzo friendly “ and know how to help people with proper tapering. What your dr did in causing you to quit cold turkey will take a long healing time. There are sections here with information about what may have helped others in your position. People do heal and it can take a very long time. I hope you will search through the information here to see if there is anything recommended to help with sleep. Coping strategies for anxiety can be helpful and those are also posted here. I use guided body scans on YouTube to help with breathing and also try Vagus Nerve calming. This is a new site transferring from a Facebook page so not a lot of people here yet. Rest as you can. I hope you can find a dr to help. Thanks!
