WebDevElijah Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 **9.5 month update after benzodiazepine discontinuation ** After a 3 year taper off benzos I've been benzo free for 9.5 months now and I'm doing well. I feel 95% healed. I was really bad before I began my taper almost 4 years ago. After hitting tolerance and having interdose withdrawls I was unable to work or attend social events. I felt like my life was slowly slipping away from me after all these years of being prescribed xnx. I was a complete mess until I found this group and read all the similar stories and symptoms I was having . I wasn't alone after all... From 6-8 mg xnx daily I eventually crossed over to val after tapering xnx for 12 months. I then tapered off 30mg of val over the next 24 months. This was the best decision I ever made regarding the taper. For me it wasn't so much the mental aspect after I jumped off that was difficult. I think this had a lot to do with coping skills I learned in therapy over the last 4 years of this process. The hardest part for myself was the physical/muscle pain I experienced only after I discontinued the meds. Neck pain , hip pain, knee pain, lower back pain. Tendinitis in both my wrists. The good news is that all the muscle pain has left my body and I feel really good actually. It lasted several months and was a very difficult time for myself. Another positive was that I started doing doordash deliveries in april(6 months after my jump) I'm now making about $2000 each month and it's such a good feeling to make money again. I want to remind you that I haven't had a job for the last 6 years due to benzodiazepines. My healing is happening and I just wanted to stop by the group and share my success story . Hang in there because life gets better ! Click Here to Learn about my story Current Medications: Valium: Started around 35mg and have tapered over 3 years down to 6.8mg. Zoloft: 100mg Trazodone: 50mg Ambien: 10mg (Only as needed.) John 3:16
